In 2009 I started making comics. Ayak + Por (in cooperation with writer Marc Legendre) was my first series, the album Zon (Sun) was a milestone. Currently I work on the sequel of Zon.
I also made several short stories as well as special issues.
Zon was published in 2017. It was received with enthousiasm and by the end of 2017 it becamee the prize winner of the Belgian Willy Vandersteen Award.
Ayak + Por started with me making my own version of Peter and the wolf. That story led to meeting the Belgian writer Marc Legendre. Together we made a story, and another one and that was the beginning the three part series of Ayak + Por, published in 2014-2016.
In cooperation with other artists of the Utrecht comic artists collective The Inkpot I worked on The dance of the envoys (about 400 years Treaty of Utrecht) and Cunera’s scarve (a commission for the city of Rhenen).
For the Dutch National Committee Veterans Day I made a story for the album On mission and for the Prinses Maxima Centrum (hospital specialized in children with cancer) I made, with writer Willem Ritstier, the album Chemo-Kasper.
For the celebration of 70 years Spike& Suzy I made the album The charming surgeon.
And there is more.
Making short stories is something I do in betwee bigger projects. Of course I give them all the attention and concentration they deserve, but te nice thing about them is that the time needed to finish them is not too long. Some of them, like Torque, the alchemist (made with Marc de Lobie) and 7th Heaven were published online on comic site STROKE.
Others I published myself as small press.
Blackland, wich reached the long list of the Benelux Comics Award 2010, was the seed of my album Zon (2017).
